Wedding Canapé Receptions
Sussex Chef makes all our canapés from start to finish in our purpose built catering kitchen in the heart of Sussex, overseen by Chef patron Ben Horle who makes sure that our canapés are made to the highest of standards using ingredients from local Sussex farms.
There are a number of things to consider when planning your canapé reception. Ben, Clare and Lindsay will gladly help you plan your wedding reception catering in Sussex so that you and your guests will truly feel special.
Planning your canapé reception
Your canapé reception on your wedding day will keep your guests entertained while they are waiting for the bride and groom to arrive and help keep hunger at bay whilst waiting to sit down for the wedding breakfast.
How many types of canapés should you have?
Canapés for small weddings
When planning a canapé reception for a small wedding we always recommend a minimum of four types of canapés, this will mean you have a nice variety of dishes for everyone to try and helps break the ice and gets people talking
Canapés for large weddings
When planning a canapé reception for a large wedding we recommend a having six or more types of canapés. Again, this will mean you have a nice variety of dishes that will keep people entertained for longer as larger groups usually take a little extra time to get where they need to be. So, more canapé choices will help keep spirits high, smiles on faces and maintains the pace with the drinks.
Canapés for weddings with dietary requirements
In these modern times the list of dietary requirements is ever growing. At Sussex Chef, we feel it is imperative that everyone at your wedding should be able to eat, enjoy themselves and be able to eat and feel safe in the knowledge that their dietary needs are being catered for. So if you or any of your guests require a Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Halal, Vegan or Kosher menu, or have any Allergies to be catered for the team at Sussex Chef are at your service.
Another thing to consider when planning your wedding reception is how long do you plan your canapé reception to run for?
For instance, if you are getting married at the same venue that you are having the Wedding Reception and are looking to move swiftly on to the wedding breakfast, have your starter, then your speeches sometime after. It is probably safe to say that you will only need a few canapés served over one hour.
If on the other hand, you are getting married at a different location to the wedding reception such as a traditional church, it is a good idea to have a greater number of canapés served for a longer period of time. When groups of people travel they will always arrive in dribs and drabs and will need entertaining.
We would like to help you avoid running short on canapés. Picture the scene, you and your immediate family are running slightly late because your photographer wanted to make the best of the glorious sunshine. Meanwhile, we are making sure that the canapés and reception drinks are keeping pace with each other and that your guests are all having a good time while awaiting your arrival. We want to make sure you are a part of the canapé reception too. That’s why when we cater for weddings of this style we always recommend having between seven and eight choices of canapés.
Every Wedding Is Different So many factors influence your canapé reception and your wedding day as a whole, the list really does go on. What time of day is the reception? how far have people travelled? are there young children attending? At Sussex Chef we make sure that we offer you the benefit of our experience and put the choices in your hands.
Of course, no canapé reception would be complete without something chilled to great your guests with. Sussex Chef offer a range of drinks services to keep your wedding guests topped up. From fully catered reception drinks service to your own personally acquired beverages served by our professional serving staff. We will help you plan every detail of your wedding reception with you, to help you achieve the day of your dreams.
